Investigation

This case comes to us from the coastal region of North Carolina. Some of the claims of activity that the client reported were seeing black shadows, being choked, slapped, as well as hearing banging and scratching on the walls.

We arrived at the home to conduct the investigation on March 21, 2009 at approximately 7:30pm. Upon our arrival we immediately began to set up the equipment around the home. (See Tech Manager Notes for placement) Earlier that afternoon, we took a tour of the home with the client and other family members to be shown where the activity had been taking place. After the tour we proceeded to the hotel to check-in and prepare for that night’s investigation. Once set up was complete and we were ready to begin the investigation, the family left the home for the night with the exception of one person.

We began by conducting an EVP session in the front living room of the home. While Anne, Christopher, David, and the client were in the front living room David heard what he thought was a loud bang coming from the back of the house. Upon investigation, nothing was found out of the ordinary. They returned to the living room where they stayed for another 20 minutes conducting more EVP work.

Anne and David then separated from the others to conduct some EVP sessions in the back bedrooms. This is where most of the activity in the home was occurring so they concentrated on those rooms most of the night. While Anne and David were in one bedroom Anne became very cold, to the point of shivering. At the same time, David heard what he thought to be knocking. After a few more minutes Anne and David moved to the other bedroom. It was this bedroom in which most of the activity had been reported. While Anne and David were in this room they both thought they heard more whispering but could not pinpoint where it was coming from. (This would turn out to be a significant personal experience as we caught several EVP’s of whispered conversations, one even occurring over us.) While Anne and David were trying to find the source of the whispering they both thought they saw the master bedroom door open some on its own. They both went to investigate but after checking found nothing that would have caused it to move. (It’s important to note that the heat/air was turned completely off in the home.)

Christopher and the client also reported knocking noises coming from above then in the attic. After taking a short break to regroup and check on the equipment the team headed back to the living room to begin mild provocation. (David received permission from the client to use Religious Provocation if necessary.) While the team was in the living room provoking, the motion sensor in the bedroom was triggered. Upon investigation nothing was found to have been moved or disturbed.

While the team was in the hallway David saw what appeared to be a light of some kind shoot from one bedroom to another. It is possible that it was the lights of a passing car outside so it can not be labeled paranormal.

The team then returned to the living room to finish conducting the provocation session only to have the sensor triggered one more time in the bedroom. At this point, David decided to go ahead and start using Religious Provocation in the bedrooms and the rest of the house. David also performed a binding ceremony while doing the provocation. While this was being done Anne thought she heard whispering while they were in the kitchen. No one else heard this but it was captured on audio. Once the provocation was finished in the main parts of the home David and Anne moved up into the attic to conduct a short session there before wrapping the investigation for the night.

Since we would be returning the following morning to bless the home, the team headed back to the hotel around 11pm to do some review and get ready for the blessing the next morning. Seeing as how no one in the family would be staying in the home, we left some of our equipment running throughout the night. This included several digital recorders, and two motion sensors. While breaking down the equipment that would not be staying in the home overnight David found that two of his recorders had stopped recording. David put brand new batteries in his recorders right before using them that night, so, battery drain was not the problem, nor had anyone stopped them. (In most cases of demonic haunts equipment will fail or stop because the demonic spirit will manipulate the equipment in an attempt to prevent capturing any evidence of it being there.) After reviewing the audio that was left running during the night we found that the motion sensor in the back bedroom had been triggered 4 separate times. Two of the times it was triggered was during the 3am hour. We also caught several loud bangs, and whispering. The other motion sensor was set up in the living room area by the front and back door, so, if anyone had come in the house it would have been triggered. It was not. Below you will find some of the EVP’s from this investigation.

Evidence:

This EVP was captured while Religious Provocation was being performed. Anne heard what she thought was a whisper, but, she was the only one that heard it at the time. No one else heard this but it was caught on the digital recorder.

This EVP was also picked up by using Religious Provocation, and seems to be coming from one of the bedrooms. You will hear two faint knocks and what sounds like a faint third one.

This was picked up during the night when no one was in the home.  It sounds like it may be coming from the living room area as they are so loud.

This EVP was captured in the living room while Christopher was explaining some techniques to the client. Neither Christopher, nor the client heard this at the time, and David and Anne were on the other side of the house in a bedroom. You will hear whispering and then a "No". This EVP as well as some others leads us to believe that there may have been more than one demonic spirit in the home.

This EVP was captured while the team was taking a break. You can hear a very clear whispering conversation as the team talks in the background.

This EVP was captured during the night too when no one was at home. You'll hear what sounds like two or three words being spoken in the background.

House Blessing Summary

*** N.A.D.P does not normally perform a house blessing the day after the first investigation. This will not be done again unless it is absolutely necessary as it is very draining. The proper amount of time must be used in order to prepare for a house blessing unless special arrangements have already been made, and or completed.***

We returned the next morning at approximately 9:30am to perform the house blessing ceremony. We placed digital recorders in the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and attic. We also placed a motion sensor in the most active bedroom, and attic. Upon completion of setting up the equipment the family left the home and we began the house blessing ceremony. David began outside by blessing two storage buildings behind the house. Once completed, he proceeded to do the crawl space in the back of the house. All three of these areas were completed with no problems. The team then headed back inside where they started in the kitchen area and worked their way to the back of the house where the bedrooms are located.

While blessing the main parts of the home, no activity was reported, nor did anyone have any personal experiences. Upon finishing the main areas of the home David and Anne moved up into the attic to finish the ceremony. Once they finished in the attic they broke down the equipment and spoke briefly with the family before leaving. The house blessing took about an hour, and no signs of protest were captured during analysis.  At the time of this report, no further activity has been reported by the client. David feels that the binding ceremony performed during the investigation weakened the demonic spirit in the home considerably, thus the house blessing drove it out of the home without a fight. As with all our other cases we will keep in close contact with the family and help them in the future should they need it.
