Investigation: 

This case comes to us from Wilder, Kentucky. This case was a joint investigation with our very good friends from NAPS, and my friends Jeff & Shannon Sylvia. The NAPS team asked me last year if I could come along for this investigation and I was more than happy to do so, and help out. This location is very well known in the paranormal field, has been well documented on TV, and has a very long and infamous history. However, for those of you that may not be familiar with this location some of the reported activity is seeing black humanoid shadows, people being attacked, objects moving on their own, lights that turn on and off by themselves, and apparitions just to name a few.

We arrived to the location around 7pm on May 28^th 2009. Immediately following our arrival I was given a complete tour of the location by NAPS co-founder Eric Singleton.  Once the tour was completed we began to set up the equipment. I placed digital recorders on the main floor, upstairs apartment, catwalk, and the well room. NAPS set up their DVR system and audio throughout the location as well. Upon completion of equipment set up we all gathered for a brief group meeting before starting. After the meeting was completed I lead us in prayer per the request of the group.

We began the investigation around 9pm by splitting into three different teams. This summary will be based on what happened with the team I was on throughout the night. Eric, Dave, Matt, and I began on the main floor while the two other teams started in the basement and upstairs apartment. While we were doing EVP work adjacent from the stage I felt what seemed to be two stomps beside my chair. A short time later I felt what seemed to be my chair vibrating while I was sitting down. This carried on to the point that I got up and another investigator sat down in my place to see if they experienced the same thing. Nothing was felt however. A few minutes later, while we were in the same area, Eric suddenly became very cold while standing by one of the pool tables across the room. When I walked over to check out what he was feeling, I too felt a cold spot beside him. This cold spot then began to move and traveled directly over the pool table itself. We were not able to find any explanation for this cold spot while investigating it.

We then left this area and proceeded to the front of the stage to begin EVP work there. While doing this we noticed that a door had opened to our left, but, we were never able to confirm if it was anything paranormal. All we could agree on is that it was an odd occurrence. After finishing our time on the main floor we all took a short break and traded areas, so, it was our turn to head down to the basement. The most interesting thing that happened in the basement that we all witnessed can only be described as seeing green lights every few minutes all around us. These lights appeared anywhere from 3 to 9 feet off the ground for the duration of our time down there. It wasn’t until later in the investigation when we learned that that had been experienced before by other people. After finishing our time in the basement we took another break and then headed to the upstairs apartment. At one point during our investigation of the apartment Eric was standing in front of the bathroom door to my left but moved because he felt like something was behind him. At the same time, Matt said he thought that he saw a black humanoid figure standing behind Eric. We were not able to get any evidence of this, but, it was an interesting personal experience shared by two team members. The rest of our time in the apartment was uneventful.

During the next break, while everyone was outside, Eric and I remained inside so that I could walk through the building using religious provocation. I did this on the main floor and the upstairs apartment while Eric watched my back. I discussed this with Eric and Shawn a few hours before hand to see if I would be able to get any type of reaction from the demonic spirit during this very controlled and uncontaminated time. While on the main floor Eric said that he thought he heard some knocking coming from around the front of the stage. When we were upstairs we did not experience anything at all. Upon completion of the upstairs provoking section everyone came back inside and prepared for me to start the provocation session anew. This time around Shawn walked with me and watched my back while everyone else sat at tables in front of the stage. While I was provoking around the corner of the stage, Shawn and I both heard some very violent knocking coming from somewhere backstage. Although there was a train going by at the time we were able to determine that this was not being caused by the train, nor were we able to capture it on audio. It was very interesting for the simple fact that if the knocking was being caused by the train we would have most likely picked it up on audio, and because I asked for knocking as a sign of its presence. Upon finishing the provoking session on the main floor, and with no activity in the apartment, we moved to the basement to conclude the provocation session as well as the investigation itself.   

Just like on the main floor I walked throughout the basement while I provoked.  When we got to the infamous “Wall of Faces” room we turned off all flashlights and stood in the room together while I provoked. While I was doing this (provoking) I heard Eric grunt behind me. When I turned around to shine my light on him he was smiling and trying to regain his balance. When asked what happened he replied that he felt what

seemed to be something on his chest, pushing him into the wall behind him. He assured me and everyone else that he was okay, so, we continued and proceeded into the well room. Upon entering the room and getting settled I then proceeded to make my way down into the well itself to stand in it while I provoked. However, on my way down a board broke under my foot thus causing me to fall into the well. Although my fall did startle everyone, I was quite alright so I began provocation once again. While we were in the well room we all said some prayers and Psalms to see if we could get any kind of reaction. We did not experience any activity while in the room, nor did I catch anything on audio during that particular session. After staying in the room for about ten minutes we decided to wrap the investigation for the night as it was going on 3am and everyone was extremely tired.
